Brookhaven Vision Zero
Zero Traffic Deaths and Serious Injuries
The Town of Brookhaven is developing a Vision Zero Action Plan to eliminate roadway-related fatalities and serious injuries on Town-owned roads. Guided by data analysis and community input, the Plan will provide targeted recommendations and strategies to improve roadway safety.
The goal is to end traffic-related fatalities and serious injuries by 2045, creating a safer, healthier, and more connected community.
The Plan will analyze roadway characteristics, crash history, traffic patterns, and demographic data to identify key factors impacting safety. Community engagement will play a crucial role in understanding safety concerns from road users and ensuring that strategies are equitable and effective. This work will result in a list of prioritized locations for improvements, recommended strategies, resolution for local government support, and a final report and implementation plan. This Plan began in November 2024 and the final report is scheduled to be available in May 2025.
